THE EXTENDED ESSAY

 

The extended essay is a formal research based paper that students write during their Junior and Senior year. Though this is not part of a class the students do receive support and guidance from a subject supervisor and the extended essay coordinator. The topic is selected by the student but must connect in some way to one of the IB curricular areas. The upper limit to the essay is 4,000 words.  At MXIS the Extended Essay is one of the graduation requirements.
